I want to show you a cool trick today that helps to make your emails seem like they’re coming from a real person instead of a robot. This is cool because it addresses a common problem I see with people using Infusionsoft where their emails look like they’re actually written by a person. Instead they look like an automated email from a system.
Let’s look at two examples.
First, here’s one that’s looks like typical email that you’d get from Gmail. You’ve got the person’s name, and the body content all lined up on the left side and nothing is indented.
Next, look at this one from Infusionsoft after a few tweaks to make it look like it’s coming from a person. When you look below the name, there’s an indent with the body text. This is a very subtle thing but it kind of ruins that feeling of the personal touch.
So here’s what we’re going to do to fix that:
- Go to “Marketing” under the Infusionsoft Navigation
- Go to templates
- Add a new template -> email
- Name the template something recognizable
- Edit the email body
- Delete the header
- Go to “Snippets” and go to Style and pick one that looks very simple like black and white.
- Delete the “having trouble reading this” box — this definitely makes the email feel less impersonal.
- Then, go to layout and change the alignment to left and decrease the width a little bit to make it easier to read.
- Next, turn off the pre-header and footer, and turn the header ON.
- Grab a paragraph snippet and drag it all the way up to the top left into the header section.
- Rearrange the other pieces as you wish, aligning them all in the header portion.
- Enter your content and remember to keep it personal using merge fields!
When we preview this now, it is going to look like a real email! It will look very similar to what you’d see in a Gmail account.
Hope this is helpful and I definitely recommend making your emails look personalized because they will typically have much higher conversion rates!
